A blind date, courtesy of the human-robot dating site Automate, goes awry when it's revealed that the two have history.

AUTOMATE, my first short film, began as an idea about haunting failures and societal inequities in a feature spec, but when I couldn't wait to write the scene that would become the short, I knew I wanted to see it come to life as my directorial debut. A short shouldn't be a single scene from a longer film, but stand on its own, so my goal in translating those themes to the short required some self-reflection and soul searching on my own mistakes, as well as distilling the original idea down to a single theme: regret. Ultimately, I was lucky to work with such amazing talent, from my producers, the actors, and all the way through to editing and sound. Filmmaking is a collaborative medium and thus this short film wouldn't be nearly as successful without the people who believed and continue to believe in it.
