John Scott 3 is a produced screenwriter, director, and an engineer for one of NASA’s flagship satellite observatories.
Long before any successes in Hollywood, John spent five years in the U.S. Air Force as a satellite systems operator for multiple missions. After finishing his education in cinema and photography, he joined the Chandra X-ray Observatory project and for the past decade, he’s led a planning team responsible for scheduling science that changes the way we look at our universe.
When not looking out at the stars, John spends his time writing and directing. His 2011 Blacklist script MAGGIE, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin, premiered at Tribeca and was released in May 2015. John’s feature work ranges from collaborations with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, to projects with New Regency, LionsGate, Sony, and Warner Bros.
His love of storytelling eventually spread into television, where he’s sold pilots to Fox TV and CBS TV, and recently finished his first season as a staffed writer on JJ Abrams’ collaboration with HBO. John currently resides with his wife, daughter, dog, and fish in Boston, the hub of science.
